This page is being used to collect information about the groundform / base that I call the Triple Blintz Basic Form, which is made by blintzing a square, turning the resulting half-size square over and blintzing it again, turning it over again and blintzing it for a third time. The Triple Blintz Basic Form is also known as Froebel's second groundform.

As far as I know the Triple Blintz Basic Form first appears in 'Escole parfaite des officiers de bouche', which was published by J Ribou in Paris in 1662, as .a 'Serviette pliee en forme de Croix de Lorraine'.

In 'The Kindergarten Principle' by Mary J Lyschinska, which was published in London by Wm Isbister Ltd in 1880, the Triple Blintz Basic Form is developed into the 'Double Windmill Ground Form' (ie the Blintzed Windmill Base).

In 'The Kindergarten Guide' by Maria Kraus Boelte and John Kraus, which was published by E. Steiger and Company in New York and by George Philip and Son in London, probably in 1882, the Triple Blintz Basic Form is referred to as 'the double groundform'.
