history of the paperfolding design I call The Cut Whale,
in which cuts are used to shorten the nose and separate
the two parts of the tail.. Please contact me if you know

you. ********** 1959 As far as I know this design first appears in 'Origami: Book Three' by Florence Sakade, which was published by the Charles E Tuttle Company in Rutland, Vermont and Tokyo in 1959.
********** The same design appears: 1960 As 'Whale; in 'Happy Origami: Whale Book' by Tatsuo Miyawaki, which was published by Biken-Sha in 1960.
********** 1961 In an advert for Nibroc Offset in the US magazine 'Print' in May-June 1961 Vol 15 Iss 3.
********** 1964 As 'Whale' in 'Fold-and-Paste Origami Storybook' by Florence Sakade, which was published by Charles E Tuttle Company in Vermont and Tokyo in 1964.
********** In 'My Origami Animals and Fishes' which was published by Crown Publishers Inc, in New York in 1964.
