The Boy's Own Book, 1st American Edition, 1829
 

The 1st American Edition of the 'The Boy's Own Book' was published by in Boston by Monroe and Francis and in New York by Charles S Francis in 1829. It is aa adaptation of the 2nd Edition published in London earlier in the same year. A analysis of the differences between the two 1829 editions is given below.

This edition does not mention that William Clarke is the author.

An additional paragraph has been added to the 'London Preface' to explain which information has been omitted.

The incidental mentions of folded paper boxes in the section relating to Silkworms are omitted along with the rest of that section.

Although the Preface does not say so, the section explaining how to make a Multiple-Image Pleated Paper Picture, titled 'Another Anamorphosis' in the 1st London edition and 'The Distorted Landscape' in the 2nd London edition is omitted from the chapter on 'Optical Amusements'.

All mention of the young blind man who used to demonstrate Troublewit on the London streets is also omitted, as is the illustration of him that appears in the London editions.
