| This
page is being used to collect information about the
history of the paperfolding design I call The Simple
Whale. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. ********** 1960 As far as I know this design first appears as 'Carpa volante' (flying carp) in (the Spanish version of) 'Happy Origami: Swallow Book' by Tatsuo Miyawaki, which was published by Biken-Sha in 1960.
********** The same design appears: 1964 In 'Secrets of Origami', by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne Book Company in London in 1964, where it is said to be Japanese.
********** 1968 In 'Your Book of Paperfolding' by Vanessa and Eric de Maré, which was published by Faber and Faber in London in 1968, where it is said to be traditional Japanese.
********** 1967 A version with a cut tail appears as 'Koinobori' in 'Origami Festival' by Isao Honda, which was published by Japan Publications Inc in Tokyo in 1967.
