The Double Boat with Sail | |||||||
This
page attempts to record what is known about the origin
and history of the origami design known as the Double
Boat with Sail. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. ********** 1893 As far as I know this design first appears as the 'Bateau a Voile' in 'L'Annee Preparatoire de Travail Manuel' by M P Martin, which was published by Armand Collin & Cie in Paris in 1893. It is made from a blintzed windmill base. ********** 1904 The same design appears as 'Barco de Vela' in 'Guia Practica del Trabajo Manual Educativo' by Ezequiel Solana, which was published by Editorial Magisterio Espaņol in Madrid in 1904.
********** 1907 A design called 'barca con vela' and 'lancha con vela' is mentioned, but not illustrated, in an article titled 'El trabajo manual escolar' by Vicente Casto Legua in the January 1907 issue of the Spanish magazine 'La Escuela Moderna' which was published in Madrid by Los Sucesores de Hernando. This design is probably the Double Boat with Sail. ********** |
