As far as I know this design first appears, and only appears, in 'Manuel Complet des Jeux de Société' by Elisabeth Celnart, which was published by La Librairie Encyclopedique de Roret in Paris in 1827, as a derivative design of the Cocotte / Pajarita made by folding the legs forwards towards the head.
