Illustration in Kodomo No Kuni magazine, 1927

'Kodomo No Kuni' (The Land of Children) was a Japanese children's magazine first published in 1922 which ran until 1944, a total of 287 volumes. This illustration, by Takei takeo, which shows 19 origami figures, is said to have been published in 1927. There is a date on the right shoe of the right hand figure which may read 1926.

The illustration shows a mix of Froebelian and traditional Japanese designs.

Some of the designs are difficult to identify. There seem to be two versions of the Boat with Sail, neither of which are the normal version and, as far as I know, neither of which occur elsewhere. The second design down on the left hand side is possibly a version of the Trousers.
