Thank you. ********** Introduction James Minoru Sakoda was born on April 21, 1916 and died on June 12, 2005. An obituary and appreciation of his life can be found here. ********** 1964 Vol 4: Issue 4 of 'The Origamian' for Winter 1964 contains a profile of James M Sakoda written by Alice Gray, much of which is directly quoted from one of his letters. It also gives his views on cutting, starting from squares and folding with metallic foil.

********** 1966 Volume 6, Issue 4 of 'The Origamian' for Winter 1966 contains an article about the Fourth Annual American Origami Convention, which, reported that:
********** 1967 Vol 7: Issue 1 of 'The Origamian' for Spring 1967 contains an article entitled 'Dr Sakoda Wins Paper Plane Contest' and diagrams for his SST Origami aeroplane design.
********** 1969 This year saw the publication of Dr Sakoda's book 'Modern Origami' by Simon and Schuster in New York. It is primarily a book of original designs by the author but also contains a good deal of introductory material, much of which is of some historical interest.
