|Friedrich Froebel's Gesammelte Padogogische Schriften edited by Wichard Lange, 1861|
Froebel's Gesammelte padogogische schriften' (Friedrich
Froebel's Collected Educational Writings) edited by
Wichard Lange was published in two parts in 1861.
The two parts were:
'Frobel's Leben und erstem Streben. Autobiographie und kleinere Schriften' (Froebel's life and first striving. Autobiography and smaller writings)
'Die Padagogik des Kindergartens' (The Pedagogy of the Kindergarten)
These works were subsequently translated into English and I have relied on these translations for evidence of what the original books contained.
'Friedrich Froebel's Pedagogics of the Kindergarten' being a translation by Josephine Jarvis of Wichard Lange's 'Die Padagogik des Kindergartens' published by D Appleton and Company, New York in 1895. No references to paper folding were found in this translation.
'Education by Development: The Second Part of the Pedagogics of the Kindergarten', translated by Josephine Jarvis, was published by D Appleton and Company in New York in 1899. Contains a chapter entitled 'Employment of Children - Guide to Paperfolding - A Fragment' which sets out a way to fold and cut a square from an irregular piece of paper and explains how to then fold the square in a few basic ways. It does not, however, contain any reference to any particular paperfolding designs. This chapter can be found on pages 88-97 of the book at https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc2.ark:/13960/t8bg2md5x&view=1up&seq=9
'Third and Last Volume of Freidrich Froebel's Pedagogics' translated by Josephine Jarvis, was published by D Appleton and Company in New York in 1904. No references to paper folding were found in this translation.
