Entr'acte by René Clair, 1924

'Entr'acte' is a 20 minute long film by René Clair made in a Dadaist style in 1924. The film is in two parts, a short Prologue and Entra'acte itself. Entr'acte includes a short sequence in which a ghostly Paper Boat flies (or perhaps floats) across the Parisian rooftops. The significance of the Paper Boat to the story of the film is not clear.

As its name implies, Entra'acte was made to be shown during the interval of the Ballets Suédois production of the ballet 'Relâche' which premiered on 4 December 1924 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

The whole film can be viewed here. The Paper Boat sequence runs from approximately 4:51 to 5:11.

I am grateful to Jose Tomas Buitrago for drawing the paperfolding content of this film to my attention.
