Cassell's Book of Indoor Amusements, Card Games and Fireside Fun, 1881 | |||||||
'Cassell's
Book of Indoor Amusements, Card Games and Fireside Fun'
was published by Cassell and Co in London in 1881. It
contains a chapter giving instructions for playing Round
Games, a number of which depend on the use of folding to
conceal something written or drawn on paper from view,
and another on Toys and Toy-Making which contains other
paperfolding items. A full copy of the third edition of the work, which I believe is identical to the first, and from which the details below have been drawn, work can be viewed at https://archive.org/stream/cassellsbookofin00cassrich?ref=ol#page/n7/mode/2up A companion volume, 'Cassell's Book of Sports and Pastimes', which concentrates on outdoor activities and does not contain any paperfolding material, was published at a similar date, possibly shortly afterwards in 1882.
