The Paperfolding of Arthur Good
 

Introduction

Arthur Good was a French engineer, science educator, author and caricaturist, who used the pen name Tom Tit. He was born in August 1853 and died in March 1928 at the age of 74.

Some of the scientific experiments using everyday objects that he published made use of paperfolding. He also included paperfolding designs in some of his books.

1885 to 1888

Arthur Good was the 'Redacteur en chef' of the magazine 'Le Chercheur: Journal des Inventions Nouvelles' which was published brtween 1885 and 1888. Later editions included a column called 'Recreations', in which some of the effects later included in 'La Science Amusante' were published. The illustrations for this magazine were engraved by Louis Poyet. These columns did not include any paperfolding related items.

Issue 808 of 'La Nature' for 24th November 1888 contained an article by Arthur Good headed 'Recreations scientifiques' and sub-headed 'Transformation d'une carte a jouer' which explains How to Make a Chain from a Playing Card.

Publication of 'La Ciencia Recreativa' by Tom Tit, a translation into Spanish of 'La Science Amusante'.

Issue 998 of 'La Nature' for 16th July 1982 contained an article by Arthur Good explaining how to build a launch tube for a Paper Parachute.
