| Article in Reader's Digest Magazine (UK version) October 1970 | |||||||
The USA version of Reader's Digest magazine of August 1970 published an article entitled 'Paper Magic of Origami' which was 'condensed' from a similar article in 'Beacon Magazine of Hawaii'. In October 1970 a similar article was published in the UK version, which, according to the front cover, had a circulation of over 1.5 million copies. My thanks to Wayne Brown for sharing his copy of this article with me. Unlike the original, this version of the article includes diagrams for 'Yoshizawa's Flapping Dove' taken from 'Simple Origami' by Eric Kenneway, which had been published earlier in 1970. The text also contains an additional paragraph about Robert Harbin and reference right at the end to his books 'Paper Magic, 'Secrets of Origami' and 'Origami' (better known as Origami 1).
The image of multiple designs found in the USA version has been replaced by three of the original photos from 'Beacon Magazine of Hawaii'. The individual photo of the Pegasus and the Giraffe are however not included. The attribution of 'Whistler's Mother' to Fred Rohm has been removed. **********
