This
page is being used to record information about the
history of the design known as the Novelty Purse. Please
contact me if you know any of this information is
incorrect or if you have any other information that
should be added. Thank you. ********** 1964 This design appears in 'Secrets of Origami' by Robert Harbin, which was published by the Olbourne Book Company in London in 1964 (although the copyright date is 1963). The text states: 'Origin: Japan.' In the 1971 Octopus Books edition the text has been altered to read 'Origin: Japan. Akira Yoshijawa.' (sic). I do not know what the evidence for attributing the design to Akira Yoshizawa is. ********** The design also appears, as 'Tortoise-Shell', in 'Noshi - Classic Origami in Japan' by Isao Honda, which was published, in English, by Japan Publications Trading Company in 1964. No information as to its origin is given. ********** 1965 The same design appears again, as 'Flower Model' in 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published, in English, by Japan Publications Trading Company in 1965. Again no information as to its origin is given. ********** |
