The Nightingale
This page attempts to record what is known about the origin and history of the origami design known as the Nightingale. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you.

As far as I know this design first appears in the historical record in in 'Origami (Part 1)' by Isao Honda, which was first published in Japan in 1931.

Vol 8: Issues 1 and 2 of 'The Origamian' for Spring and Summer 1968 contained an article, 'Origami Scrapbook ... Signs of Spring', written by Peter Van Note, about two Japanese designs, one of which was the 'Song Bird'.
