The Improvised Brassiere
This page attempts to record what is known about the origin and history of the napkin fold effect known as the Improvised Brassiere. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you.

The earliest publication of this effect that I know of is in 'After the Dessert' by Martin Gardner, which was published by Max Holden in New York in 1941.

The effect can also be found in 'Willane's Wizardry' by Willane, which was pubished by ARCAS, in London, and has a foreword dated 1947.
