The Public Paperfolding History Project

Index Page

This page attempts to record what is known about the origin and history of the origami design known as Persimmon. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you.

Note that although the pictures on this page appear to show several very different designs they are in fact the same design made by varying the position of a crucial fold.

As far as I know rthis design first appears in 'The Art of Origami' by Samuel Randlett, which was published by E P Dutton in New York in 1961, where it is said to be a traditional Japanese design.

The design also appears in 'Secrets of Origami', by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne Book Company in London in 1964, where it is also said to be Japanese.
