A paperfolding paradise
The website of writer and paperfolding designer David Mitchell
page attempts to record what is known about the origin
and history of macromodular origami, where complete
modular designs are combined into third generation
structures. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you.
As far as I know the first appearance of the macromodular idea is in 'Les Bon Jeudis' by Tom Tit, which was published in Paris in 1905, and which shows how complete Playing Card Cubes can be combined to make larger structures by interlocking their external tabs.
