The Cheesecake of Cards
This page attempts to record what is known about the origin and history of the Cheesecake of Cards. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you.

This effect only works because the cards are folded and resist the distortion caused by the folds.

The earliest evidence I know of for this effect is found in the 'American Girl's Book or Occupation for Play Hours' by Eliza Leslie, which was published in Boston and New York in 1831.
