'At Home Tonight' by Herbert McKay, which was published by Oxford University Press in London, New York and Toronto in 1940, gives a way of demonstrating the truth of Pythagorus' Theorem by folding and tearing (although the folding is mostly used as a way to weaken the paper so that it can be torn more easily).
